"The Light"

It was darkness, darkness, darkness, and the animals kept running into each other. So, they decided to have a meeting. "Where is the light?" they asked. "I know where the light is," piped up the mouse. "I saw when it rained the light poked through the clouds. That is where the light is. It is in the clouds." "Who will get the light?" the animals asked. "I'll go get the light," said buzzard. So, he flew up to the sky and grabbed a piece of light. "How shall I take it back down?" he wondered. Then he had an idea. He ste the light on his head and arranged his nice soft feathers so it wouldn't fall off. Then, he started to fly back down to the earth when "Oooowwww!" He felt on top of his head but the light had burnt down to nothing and now there were no feathers on his head. He flew back to the earth with no light and no feathers on his head.
The animals held another meeting. "Who will go get the light?" they asked. "I'll go get the light," said possum. So, he scurried up the tallest tree until he got to the sky. He took a piece of light. "How will I carry it back?" he wondered. Then he had an idea. Possum put the light on his tail and arranged his fur around it so it wouldn't fall off. He scurried back to the earth when "Oooowwww!" Possum felt his tail. The light had burnt out and his tail had no fur. He scurried sadly back to the earth.
The animals held one last council meeting. "Who will go get the light?" they asked. "I'll go get the light," said the spider. "You're too small!" the animals said. "I can do it," she insisted. "Well, OK," they said. Spider went up to the sky and grabbed a piece of light. "How will I get it down?" she asked herself. "I won't be stupid like buzzard or possum." Then she had an idea. She weaved her web around the light and carried it back to the earth.
Then she threw the light into the air and the light spred everywhere. There was only darkness during the night after that. And all the animals lived happily ever after.
