"The monkey and alligator"
by
Rani India
Once there was a monkey who loved plums. He would sit on top of a plum tree and eat plums all day. His tree was an island. One day a very foolish alligator came swimming by and thought "If that monkey's plums are so sweet and juicy, how sweet and juicy must his heart be?" The alligator decided to trick the monkey into letting him eat his heart. He went to the monkey and said,"Monkey monkey! Sit on my back and I'll take you around the ocean." The monkey jumped of the tree and onto the alligator's back. The alligator asked the monkey, "How sweet and juicy are your plums?" The monkey said, "very" Alligator asked the monkey if he could eat his heart. Monkey smiled and said that he forgot his heart on the tree and asked Alligator if he would take him back to the tree. Alligator took him. The monkey jumped on the tree and started to eat plums. Alligator said, "Where's your heart?" The monkey laughed and said, "Did you really believe me? I can't really leave my heart on the tree." The monkey lived happily ever after eating plums.
