This story happened when the earth was new. At that time there was no human beings in the world, there was only animals and birds.
One day a rabbit was walking through a forest. He said " There is not enough light in the world".A owl heard this, he said " Yes, there is enough light in the world".The rabbit looked everywhere and asked " Who is that? It is so dark so I can't see".Owl replied " I am Toroba, the owl. And there is enough light". Then the rabbit said " There is enough light for you but I cannot see were to walk as it is so dark. I will call a council. I will call all the animals and ask whether there is enough light or not." Owl said " I will call all the birs in the council." The rabbit and owl made a belt of beads. In the belt it was written 'Council to be held. Please come.' they gave it to animals and birds.they understood what it meant.
Next day all the animals and birds came. The rabbit asked them there is enough light or not. A buffalo said " No there is not enough light. We can't see where the grass or water is". Some animals and birds said buffalo is correct. Then the owl asked and the raccoon said " Yes there is enough light. Our enemies cannot see us as it is dark. Some animals and birds sided with owl.
the rabbit said " I shall settle this. I will use my power and make the light come". And he began to say light, light, light. The owl said " i have more power then you". Then he starded saying night, night, night. Buffalo warned rabbit "Don't use owl's word or we shall get night always" The raccoon said not to use rabbits word. But they slipped their tongue so the rabbit said night and owl said light. So half of their wish came true. That is why we have half night and half light.
