Once upon a time,there was a family leave in a forest.The father and his first wife had already dead.The first wife had a daughter named Bawang Merah and the second wife's daughter named Bawang Putih. The second wife-Mak Fatimah treated Bawang Merah bad.Bawang Merah had to do all the works all by herself. But,Bawang Merah was a kindly girl.She did not against her step mother.
When Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih grew bigger,Bawang Merah became a pretty girl with snowy skin while Bawang Putih was ugly and fat since she did not work. Mak Fatimah became jealous with Bawang Merah.She was more jealous when she knew that Bawang Merah had a beautiful gold fish as her friend,through,it was only a fish! Mak Fatimah caughed and cooked the fish.That day, she treated Bawang Merah well and served her the curry fish.Bawang Merah was so surprised for her step mother's kindness,so,she ate the curry fish happily. At night,Bawang Merah had a dream. Her mother,Mak Angsana told her about the incident.Bawang Merah became sad and felt guilty.Mak Angsana told her to buried the bone of the fish near the well which she washed the clothes.When Bawang Merah woke up,she did as what her mother told. The next day,Bawang Merah saw a large tree grew from where she buried the bone of the fish.And a gold swing on the branch of the tree.She quickly threw herself on the swing and became to sing.Her voice was so melodius and sweet-sounding.
A prince who was passing-by saw the beautiful Bawang Merah and fall in love with her.Bawang Merah quickly ran back home when she saw the prince.The prince followed her and entered her house.Mak Fatimah lay to prince that Bawang Putih was the girl.The prince didn't believe her as Bawang Putih was so ugly, not like the pretty Bawang Merah.Finally ,Mak Fatimah told the truth and apologised to the prince.He forgave her.
The prince and Bawang Merah got married and thdy lived happily.
