This story is about a group of wild animals who lived in Africa. There was a rabbit, a lion, a hare and a giraffe. They all lived a pretty good life with everything they needed. They had enough food to eat and they had fun together. They got their water from a little river that flowed across their little village. They did everything in that river, they drank the water, they bathed in that river and they played in it too. But one day when they were all going to drink so water, they were very surprised to see that the river was completely dry! You see, they hadn't noticed that the rain hadn't come in a very long time. So they had done nothing to save some of the water. Now all the water was gone. They then decided to have a meeting. So all the animals had to come.
Everybody agreed that the best thing to do was to dig a big hole and eventually as they dug they would come across some water. All have them had to have a chance to dig. They took it in turns to dig. The rabbit was very lazy and she decided that she would not dig like all the other animals. The rest of the animals were not happy about this so they told her that once they had some water she would not be allowed to have any. So the animals started digging their hole. They dug for weeks and weeks. When they were about to give up they found what the had been looking for. In no time the hole was filling up with loads of water! This made them very excited. But they remembered that the rabbit would not drink any. Each animal had to take turns watching the water so that the rabbit would not steal the water.
But the rabbit had a clever plan. She was going to give the giraffe, the animal that was in charge some food that had sleeping spice in them. When she got to giraffe he was very eager to have the food since he hadn't eaten the whole day. As soon as he had finished eating he fell fast asleep. The rabbit quickly drank as much water as she possibly could and then she had a good bath.
The next day when all the animals had come to drink some water they found that there was nothing left. Ofcouse they blamed the giraffe. The poor giraffe could not remember anything. In shame he packed all his belongings and left the village. To this day the giraffe does not speak with any of the animals because he is still too ashamed of what he thought he had done.
