"The Vain Rabbits and the Cunning Bear"
Story by Stacey , for IULIAN Romania

REF#a19-2-2

Once upon a time there were two vain rabbits, Bun Bun and Cherry. They spent their days arguing over who was prettier.
"I am!" Cried Bun Bun. "I have the biggest, most beautiful ears out of all the rabbits in the forest!"
"Don't be silly!" Cherry laughed. "I am prettier. I have the smallest, roundest, pinkest nose out of all the rabbits in the forest!"
One day a hungry bear called Sammy Bear was walking through the forest when he over-heard this conversation.
"Hm..." He thought. "I can use this to my advantage."
"Hello!" He yelled.
Bun Bun and Cherry were so surprised they leapt in the air, and banged their heads against a tree branch.
"What do you want?" Said Bun Bun pompously, rubbing his aching head.
"I was walking through the forest when I saw your beauty. I was so bewitched by it I just had to meet you!" Sammy Bear lied.
Bon Bon and Cherry preened smugly.
"I was wondering, have you two ever considered a career in modeling?" Sammy Bear queried.
"No." Cherry gasped, her eyes shining.
"You should. In fact, you should talk to one of my friends, Billy Bear. He works for a modeling company!"
"Really! Wow!" Bon Bon and Cherry gasped, forgetting that bears don't have jobs.
"Sure! Follow me!" Sammy Bear said.
Sammy Bear and the vain rabbits strolled out of the woods and onto the edge of a cliff.
"Of course, only one of you can get the job." Sammy bear said cunningly.
"What!" Bun Bun gasped.
"Who?" Cherry asked.
"Well, you two are so beautiful, I guess we can't decide. So neither of you will get it."
Bun Bun and Cherry screamed.
"Unless, of course, one of you doesn't apply for it." Sammy Bear said.
Cherry turned on Bun Bun.
"I'm gonna be he one who applies." She announced.
"No! I am!" Bun Bun yelled.
"I am!"
"I am!"
"No, I am!"
"I am!"
Cherry screamed and threw herself at Bun Bun. The two vain rabbits stumbled, then fell over the cliff.
Sammy Bear giggled, and began to climb down the cliff.
"Yum, Yum Rabbit stew for tea!" He snickered.
