Marsta was a young mouse. She was 10 years old, smaller than most mice and couldn't run very fast, but yet she dreamed of great things. She wanted to be a hero, but yet there was nothing and no one who needed to be rescued!
She'd often run around her city (Picken) and help anyone she saw, but the only thing she could find to do was help old ladies cross the street, or hold the door open for people with packages. There was no one who needed saving or rescuing.
Finally she gave up, and decided she'd just settle for being who she was, a bored mouse with no future.
"You do too have a future!" Her mother would protest, "Why, you get to take over the inn when you're older!"
"But it's not the same!" She'd complain, "I want to be something important!"
"You will, Marsie, you will."
Marsta had learned how to swordfight earlier, but she didn't know what good that would do her. Her city was too peaceful for an attack.
Then one day, something Marsta never expected happened. They were under attack. Everyone was running and screaming about how they weren't prepared for this, and how they didn't have anyone ready to battle. Marsta stood up and grabbed a shord and shield, "I am ready to go!" She announced to them.
They all laughed at her, "What can you do Marsta? You're just some crazy girl who runs around helping people!" everyone laughed.
"Who is attacking us?" She asked sternly.
"Some cat named Fluffy. Like you can do anything to stop that!"
Marsta put her chin up and marched out of the city. She found the little white cat trying to tear down a tower, "Hey, you! FLUFFY!" She shouted. The cat looked down and smiled, showing all his sharp teeth. She began wondering what she had gotten herself into.
Marsta led Fluffy away from the city, and through the kitchen. She was almost caught twice, because she couldn't run very fast, but she used her size to squeeze into tiny spots, which made the cat confused for a few minutes, but he found her eventually and began chasing her again.
Marsta saw what she was looking for. An open door. She ran out of the door, with Fluffy chasing her. She then squeezed through the tiny crack of space left as the door closed, and shut firmly on the cat. A man locked the door, but didn't see Marsta because she was so tiny.
She went back to Picken to face the bullies who had laughed at her earlier, but she was swept up in armfuls of laughter and joy as everyone proclaimed her a true warrior.
She had left as the small mouse that everyone laughed at, and came back a hero.
The End
