むかしあるところに、グルービーという名前のホッキョクグマがいました。グルービーはオペラをうたうのが大すきでした。

ある日、小さなおとこの子は、どこからかオペラの「まてき」のうたがきこえてくるのに、耳をすませました。ちいさなおとこの子はいいました。

「このひどい音はなんだろう？」そうして音のしょうたいをさがしにいきました。おとこの子はホッキョクグマを見つけて、たずねました。

「なにしてるの？」

「うたっているのさ！」と、グルービーはこたえました。

「ああ」と、おとこの子はいいました。「クマとおはなしができるなんて、ぼく、しらなかったよ。おともだちになろうよ！」

グルービーとおとこの子は、それからしあわせにくらしました。

Once upon a time there was a polar bear and his name was groovy.� Groovy loved singing opera.�� One day a little boy heard him singing an aria from "The Magic Flute."� The little boy said "What's that terrible noise?" and came running to see what it was.� He saw the polar bear and asked "what are you doing?"� "Singing!" said the bear.� "Oh," said the boy, "I didn't know that I could talk to bears.� Let's be friends!"� And they lived happily ever after.
