"Mum, can I have a cat?"
Hazel often asked her mother. Hazel's mother always replied,
"Someday, Hazel".
Hazel longed for a pet to play with as she had no brothers or sisters.
On the morning of her ninth birthday,
Hazel woke up to the smell of pancakes.
"Surprise!" her parents shouted. Hazel was very happy. After
breakfast, Hazel's parents brought her a big box with a hole at the side. Hazel opened the box. She gasped
when she saw her present.
"A kitten!" she squealed. She gave each of her parents a big bear hug. Hazel named
the kitten, Florie. Hazel was no longer lonely because she had Florie to play with.
