One fine Spring morning a baby bird was hatched. The first thing she said was, "I'm hungry, mommy, I'm hungry". Mommy bird set off to find her baby some food.

On her way, she couldn't help stopping to brag about her new baby to a mother fish who was swimming in the creek. She got carried away and talked and talked until a little voice was heard from up in the tree. "Mommy, I'm hungry"!

Mommy bird quickly found a caterpillar and flew up to the nest. After the baby bird ate the caterpillar she said, "Mommy I'm still hungry". So the mommy bird set off to find more food.

This went on for weeks, until the mommy bird got too tired to bring her baby more food.

She brought the nest down to the ground and said to her baby, "Baby bird, I love you, but it's time for you to learn how to feed yourself". "I can't", said the baby bird. Mommy bird said, "Never say can't, just try and you will see that you can do anything that you really want to"!

The baby bird, stepped out of the nest and said, "That was easy, maybe I should try to fly". With that she spread her wings and flapped as hard as she could.

Suddenly she found herself way up in a tree. She said, "I recognize this tree, this is where I was hatched"!

Then she saw a big, plump caterpillar, on the ground. She swooped down and caught it. Before she could eat it, she heard her mother say, "Baby Bird, I'M HUNGRY"!
