"A House on the Hill"
Story by Molly, for Sarah

There once was a beautiful house on a hill, where a young child named Julianna lived with her mother. Her mother was ill, so Julianna rarely saw her and had the whole house to herself, except for one locked room. The room was on the western wing.

One Sunday morn, June 13, to be exact, young Julianna walked into her mother's room. When the doctor left, to come back tommorrow, her mother called to her, "Julie, tommorrow morning I will draw in my last breath. I need to tell you something. Go into my closet after my death, and search all the shelves. You will find a silver key on a blue ribbon. Open the room. It will be my only way of providing enjoyment for you, and I will die happily." Julianna kissed her mother and left the room. Room? What room? she thought.

When she awoke the next morning, she went to her mother's room. The doctors warned her to leave, but she stayed. Suddenly, her mother said "Goodbye..." and Julianna knew that was the end. She left quietly without shedding a tear.

Later that day Julianna remembered her mother's words. She ran to the closet, and almost immediately found a shiny, silver key on a sky blue ribbon. Then she thought of the only locked room in the house- the one on the west wing!

She ran to the room and with luck opened the door. Inside, she discovered it was her mother's room when she was a child! Julie was delighted and walked inside. She turned to her left and saw a bed and toys. On the right, to Julie's surprise, was a huge window. She walked slowly towards it. When she looked out, she saw the whole town. Then she peered a little closer and saw a small, yellow house. She saw a woman and a child of about her age come out and seem to smile and wave.

As she walked nearer, she bumped into a desk. On it, there was a letter. It was to, "MY ONLY SISTER IN THE YELLOW HOUSE" Julie looked out and smiled. She made an important desicion. She decided to move in with her aunt. The next week, Julie left the house with all her and her mother's belongings and moved in. She lived normally and happily until her death.
