"Special Baby Girl"

For many years, I was lonely. All of my friends had siblings to play with when they wanted to.I didn't have any siblings. I was always hoping...wishing. I would baby-sit sometimes, but it didn't help.

One day, when my grandparents came over for dinner, my dad used his spoon to bang on a glass. "We have an announcement. Jenn is going to have another baby." I sat there, my mouth hanging open. My mind was focusing on those words. then i shouted,Yea, yea, YEA!!!!!!!!!!

Then after 9 months of waiting...planning....painting.....buying....deccorating.....getting ready.....watching mom's tummy grow...... It happened. "IT'S COMING!!!!!JOE!!Lindsay!!!!!!!AHH!HURRY!!CALL MY MOM!!!"my mom yelled. She was off to the hospital, and my grandparents came to watch me.

They stayed for the night, and at 8:30 in the morning, i got the call. "Honey, You are a big sister to a little sister, born Sunday,June 7, 1998, at 8:23 am. You can come visit her whenever you want, today. So I got ready, and Gramps drove us to the RiverValley Hospital. I went into room 47, and there was mom, dad, and,??? "What's her name?" I asked. "her name is Melanie Jane Silvester."

Two days later, she came home. That Night, As I watched her sleep in her crib, I was so,so,so,so,happy! i said "Melanie is such a special baby girl."*
