Once upon a time, Benny, Violet, Jessie, and Henry all lived together. Once they went apple-picking and they brought Watch their dog with them. They had forgot to bring ladders.

"Oh Jessie"' said Henry, "How will we ever get those apples down?" "Well" said Jessie, "we could jump up." "But it's too high" said Benny. Suddenly Watch started barking. "What is it old boy? What is it you have in your mouth?" said Violet. "Drop it" said Jessie. Watch dropped it. It was an apple.

"I have an idea" cried Henry. "We can pick the apples up from the ground!" "Good idea" said Jessie. "You got it Jess" said Benny. She smiled. And everybody laughed. What a day for the Boxcar Children.
