"丘の上の家"

ベッドルームの窓から外をながめると、ホーンティッドヒルの上に古い家が見える。 うわさによるとその家にはゆうれいがでるらしい。親友のキティとわたしにはしんじられなかった。 だからある日わたしたちはようすを見にその家にいくことにした。 その家にの窓や天井にはクモの巣がいっぱいだった。 わたしはちょっとふるえてしまって「もう帰ろう」といった。 でもキティは平気だったのでわたしたちは中にはいった。
"すごくこわいかんじ"と、キティ。
とつぜん、だれかの声がした。おそろしくなってわたしたちは家の外に飛び出した。

つぎの日学校で、姉さんが友だちとあの家にいってかくれんぼをしていたときいた。 なんてこと！キティとわたしはとってもはずかしかった。


When I look out of my bedroom window, I can see the old house that stands on the top of Haunted Hill. Rumour has it that it is haunted. My best friend, Kitty and I, didn't believe it, so on day we decided to go to the house to see. When we reached the house, we saw cobwebs hanging from the windows and ceiling. I shivered. "Let's go home." I begged, but Kitty was adament. So, in we went. "It's really scary."said Kitty. Suddenly we heard the sound of voices. We were so scared that we ran out of the house! The next day, at school, my sister told me that she and her frends had gone to the old house to play hide and seek. How embarrased Kitty and I were!!
