バレリーナ

あるところにクリスチャンというちいさなおんなのこがいました。あるひのこと、クリスチャンはおかあさんにこうたずねました。「わたし、バレエのレッスンをうけたいわ。」「いいわよ。」といったおかあさんはクリスチャンにぴったりのダンススクールをみつけにでかけていきました。そしておかあさんは"セントラル　パブリック　スクール"というなまえをみつけてもうしこみをしました。

クリスチャンはうれしくて、うれしくて、まいにちバレエのれんしゅうをしました。そしてはじめてのバレエのおけいこのひがやってきました。クリスチャンはたちあがって、できるだけじょうずにバレエをおどりました。するとみんなはクリスチャンにパチパチはくしゅをしたり、おうえんしたりしました。ところがひとりだけはべつ... それはキャサリーンでした。

「キャサリーンはナイスじゃないわねぇ。」とほかのこたちはみんなそうおもいました。

「おててをたたいてくれることぐらいできたのに。」とクリスチャンはおもいました。でもキャサリーンはただむっつりとおこったかおをしてすわりこんでいました。キャサリーンはみんながじぶんをみつめているのにきがつきました。でもキャサリーンはそうされることがいやでした。そしてしずかに「なにをみてるのよ。」といいました。キャサリーンがあたりをながめると、なんとせんせいがみています。「みんなはそんなこといわないわよ。」とせんせいはキャサリーンにいいました。

The Ballarina

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Christiann. One day she said to her mother "I want to take Ballet lesson's". Her mother said "ok", so she went and found the right dance school. She found one named "Central Public School" and registered.
Christiann was so happy she practised everyday and then the day came when it would be the first day of ballet. She got up and danced her best and everyone clapped and cheered except for one little girl... Kathleen.

"She was not nice at all", thought all of the other children.

"She could have been nice enough to clap", thought Christiann, but the little child just sat there with a mad look on her face. When she saw all the little faces looking at her, she did not like it. She said silently, "what are you looking at", then she looked and she noticed the teacher watching her. The teacher said we don't say that.
