あるところにアリエルという人魚がいました。アリエルはとてもしあわせな人魚でしたが、ある日まい子になってしまいました。お母さんやお父さんとピクニックにいっていたアリエルはきれいなお魚のあとをおいかけているとちゅうでお母さんやお父さんとはぐれてしまいました。ハッときがつくとアリエルはまい子になっていました！

アリエルはすわって、ぽろりっとなみだをこぼしました。すると間もなくべつの人魚がアリエルに近づいてくるではありませんか。

「こんにちは。わたしは名前はアリッサ。」とその人魚はいいました。
「わたしはアリエル。まい子になっちゃったの。」とアリエル。
「ピクニックをしてたの？」とアリッサがたずねました。
「そうなの。」とアリエルはびっくりしながらいいました。
「わたしもそこにいたの。だからきっともとの場所に案内してあげられると思うわ。」
「わぁ!!!」とうれしくてさけんだアリエル。

アリッサはアリエルをピクニックの場所につれていくと、アリエルのお母さんとお父さんをいっしょにさがしてあげました。それからずっとアリッサとアリエルはいちばんのなかよしになりました。

Once there was a mermaid called Ariel. She was a very happy mermaid, but one day she got lost. She had been on a picnic with her mother and father. She had wandered away while following a nice fish. When she looked up, she was lost!
She sat down and cried a few tears. Soon she saw another mermaid coming towards her.

"Hello," said the other mermaid. "My name is Alyssa. "
"Mine's Ariel," said Ariel. "And I'm lost."
"Were you at the picnic," asked Alyssa.
"Yes," said Ariel, astonished.
"I was there, too. I can help you get back."
"Yes!!!," cried Ariel.

Alyssa helped Ariel go back to the picnic and find her mother and father. And from then on Alyssa and Ariel were best friends.
