お話：クリスタル　絵：みる

ずっと前のある日のことです。有名な画家、ミスター．ディレオンがドラゴンの絵をかいているところでした。ドラゴンは巨大で、おおきな赤い目と黄色のきばを持っていました。

ミスター．ディレオンがこのドラゴンをかいているちょうどその時プリンス．マクレンドンがゴーレンフローの長旅からもどってきました。プリンス．マクレンドンが2週間も留守にしていたわけは、ゴーレンフローに行って、またもどってくのに往復3日間もかかる大旅行だったからです。結局、プリンス．マクレンドンはゴーレンフローに8日間しかいられませんでした。

自分のお城にもどろうとしていたプリンス．マクレンドンは絵をかいているミスター．ディレオンを見かけました。二人はとても仲のいい友だちでしたし、プリンス．マクレンドンはミスター．ディレオンに長いこと会っていなかったのでちょっとおしゃべりをしようと思いつきました。

プリンス．マクレンドンはミスター．ディレオンの後ろにまわり絵をながめました。
「やぁ、仲間よ！」とプリンス．マクレンドンは大声でよびかけました。
ミスター．ディレオンはビクッとして飛び上がり、何ときれいな絵に絵の具がかかってしまったのです。
「あぁ、もうしわけない！」とプリンス。
「傑作ですよ、プリンス．マクレンドン。わたしの絵を全くすばらしいものにしてくれましたよ！あなたがわたしをびっくりさせ、わたしが飛び上がり、わたしの絵に絵の具がかかり、そして最高の傑作ができたってわけです！これを抽象画とよぶことにしましょう。」とミスター．ディレオン。

そんなふうに抽象画ができたってわけ。

One day long ago, Mr.DeLeon,a great artist, was painting a picture of a dragon. This dragon was large and had big red eyes, and yellow teeth.
At the time Mr.Deleon was painting this dragon, Prince McLendon was returning from his long journey to Gorenflo.He had been gone for two weeks,for his journey was very large.It took three days to get there,and three days to get back. Therefore, he stayed in Gorenflo for 8 days.
Prince McLendon was going to hiscastle when he saw Mr.DeLeon painting.He decided to go to talk to him,because they were very good friends and he missed him.

Prince McLendon stepped behind Mr.DeLeon looking at his painting.
"Friend!" Prince McLendon yelled.
Mr.Deleon jumped,and all his paint spilled on his beautiful painting.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!"said the prince.
"Magnificent,Prince McLendon you just made my painting perfect!When you scared me I jumped,then all the paint spilled on my painting and made a magnificent creation!We should call it abstract art."Mr.Deleon said.

That's how abstract art came to be.
