にんぎょのゆめ

あるところにリリーというにんぎょがいました。リリーのしっぽはくじらのしっぽのようでした。リリーのからだはたくさんのいろがまじっていて、とてもわかいにんぎょでした。リリーにはおねえちゃんがいました。うみのそとにでてみたいなとリリーはおもっていましたが、15さいにならなければそうすることはできませんでした。

リリーはうみのそこをおよぎまわって、おともだちのおさかなたちにいいました。15さいになったらにんげんをみにいくのよって。するとおさかのともだちがたずねました。「ぼくたちもつれていってくれる？」するとリリーがいいました。「だめよ。おさかなはおみずのそとでいきができないから。」「うみのそとにでたらなにをするの？」とおさかなのともだちがたずねました。「わたしね、はまべでこどもたちがおみずのひっかけっこをするのをみたいの。それからどうやってきょうかいのかねをならすのか、どんなふうにおひさまがしずむのか、それからりくのかいそう（木）をみてみたいわ。」

にんぎょのリリーはうみのそとにでたらみることのできるすてきなことをずっとゆめみています。

MERMAID'S DREAM

Once, there was a mermaid called Lilly. Her tail was like the tail of a whale. She was very colourful. She was very young. Her sisters were older than her. She wanted to come out of the sea. But she had to be 15 years old to go above the sea.
She used to swim in the deep sea and tell her fish friends that when she is 15 she is gong to see humans. The fish friends said, "Will you take us too?" Lilly said, "No, because you can't breath out of the water." Then the fish friends asked, " What will you do when you go out of the sea?" Lilly said, " I want to see the children splashing water on the beach, and how they ring the church bells and the sun set and the sea- weeds of the land (trees)."
Lilly, the mermaid is dreaming of all the nice things she will see when she comes out of the sea.
