Japan: Kimono
report and original photo contributed by: Miyuki (age 11)

The kimono is the traditional japanese national costume.
Nowdays we wear kimono only for special occasions, such as on new year's Day,coming-of-Age Day, wedding receptions ,etc.

This photograph was taken on shichi-go-san on November 15th as a memorial picture. November 15th is the day parents take their sons(three or five years old) and daughters( three or seven years old) in Kimono or best clothes to shrines to pray for their health and growth.

I was seven years old, and my brother was three years old, We were so happy to wear Kimono.
